SEPTEMBER 17, 2011 OFFICIAL CONSTRUCTION TOUR
I'd like to start by thanking Canada's Wonderland for allowing CWMania such amazing access to these construction updates. Dineen has been great taking time out of her busy schedule to keep all of us CWManiacs up to date!
As always, the full gallery of construction pictures can be found here:http://www.cwmania.com/gallery/thumbnai ... =1&sort=dd
Let's start with construction pictures from the general areas of the park:
A large portion of the North parking lot has been fenced off for construction. Footers should be done in this area soon.
Let's start with how HUGE the supports are. I've also been told we will see MUCH BIGGER supports soon!
Drive-wheels for the maintenance bays.
Lots of different sizes of track.
Trench for the valley of the first drop.
Looking back at the trench towards Dragon Fire.
First 2 sections of the brake run have been installed. They will start with the brakes and work their way through the station area, turn-around to the lift. Then vertical construction of the lift should begin.
Overview of the station area. The park hopes to have all footers poured by mid October. They're currently over half done.
Close-up of the brakes.
View of the brake run from Med Fair. Now for the construction tour!
I don't think I've seen this on other coasters... So it's worth mentioning that the SINGLE chain will return in the track. Unlike Behemoth where the chain return is suspended well below the track, this is all in the track just above the spine.
A closer shot of the chain return.
BIG supports on this thing!
Bottom of the lift hill.
Next year this is where your climb to 306ft will begin!
This is bottom gear that will feed the chain up the lift. It's also where the counterweight is located.
The brake sections are all put together and lifted into place as one large unit.
Base of the lift hill.
One last close-up of the brakes.
Soon there will be 306ft of B&M track standing in front of this!
