Why would they take out minebuster. It's in a spot where you couldnt put a new coaster layout. But if you take out wild beast it opens up alot of land that can give cedar fair plenty of choices what to put there.

I'm pretty sure Jet Scream was shipped off site early last season. Great Whale of China is now operating in Carowinds. And I believe that Fury is long gone as well (not sure where that ended up). I believe all that is left in the boneyard is remnants of theming from the old rides.

I'm surprised no one had mentioned this yet, from Screamscape:

http://screamscape.com/html/kings_dominion.htm
Park News - (7/17/12) According to a post at CoasterCrewNetwork, the time may have come to remove Shockwave. To be honest, I’m surprised this Togo Stand-Up coaster has lasted this long as it’s sister ride (King Cobra) at Kings Island was removed years ago. If true, the only remaining Togo Stand-Up coaster in North America would be the SkyRider at Canada’s Wonderland which will likely find itself on the chopping block before too long as well.

Skyrider's footprint although slender could make for a possible Stealth (Thorpe Park) sized launch coaster or even larger if Timberwolf Falls were to be taken out as well. We in the enthusiast community know of Cedar Fair's past statements regarding Intamin Launch coasters, I'm mearly stating what could fit in the real estate currently occupied by those rides.

Hrmmm... Trying to decide if I'd miss Skyrider if they got rid of it? I do like the idea of a launch coaster.. But there's plenty of room in other parts of the park.

Kings Dominion has refuted that rumour. Shockwave is not being removed any time soon.

^That's great news! The last thing they need is to remove a pretty good ride.

What was the reason for KI to remove King Cobra? I've never heard of a critical reason or issue for the others to be removed. I love Sky Rider-- I think that it's still my favorite stand up coaster. Shock wave is really cool since it has a short section in the woods.

^ To make room for Son of Beast? And probably because replacing the parts were harder to come by?

sorry to be a party pooper but i think it would be cool for the next coaster to be for the kids. not so intense and with lots of theme. maybe a cool name could be son of Levi.

Son of Beast was built around 2000. King Cobra wasn't removed until 2006. As I mentioned in another topic, I would expect to see something added to the kids area next season :)

Hmm... I will have to peacefully disagree!

Son of Beast and King Cobra coexisted for 1 year, so pictures and videos with both of them in it are hard to come by. King Cobra was separated from Son of Beast by a few things, such as maintenance roads and buildings as well as other attractions. Son of Beast had little to nothing to do with King Cobra's removal.

You got the second part right; parts were scarce for that model of coaster especially. I bet HUSS parts were easier to come by! But that wasn't the only thing leading to its removal. You must also keep in mind that his ride was made in the (I believe late 80's, early 90's?) country of Japan. During this timeframe, Japanese steel was horrible (now it's OK). The ride was the first of its type, and due to the prototypeness and lack of knowledge about steel, premature rusting occurred.

So I guess premature rusting, spare parts (or lack thereof), And low ridership is what prompted the removal of King Cobra.... Or at least that's what the park tells us...

So if King Cobra was removed in 2006, where did Delirium go? ;)

Ha, I meant to type 2001 (well, after the 2001 season)... Silly fingers not doing what my brain tells them to do...

What might we see as the next coaster!

Wing Rider
Dive Coaster
GCI Woodie
Launch.

Anything new that might come up as well. We don't see as many new wooden coasters built anymore. We are lucky to see one built every season. I think a dual racing GCI woodie would be neat in the footprint of Wild Beast. 2 Trains, 2 Tracks, Good turnover of guests. I have even thought of- building a wooden coaster in the area of Kingswood- depending on what happens with that.

Possiblities are endless.

I'm really seeing a major installation of Wing Coasters across the Cedar Fair chain. Something to similar to all the hypers coming to the cedar fair chain (i.e. Behemoth, Diamondback, Intimidator.) It seems like Cedar Fair likes to buy in bulk.

EDIT: Wing Riders to Wing Coasters. My bad.

I sure hope we don't see tons of wingriders. I've heard numerous accounts of wingriders being unique, yet terribly boring (pretty much thrill-less). Plus, having Kings Island and Cedar Point getting wingriders (3 hours away from eachother)? That directly feeds into the "KINGS ISLAND IS BECOMING CEDAR POINT SOUTH!!!!!!1111!!!!!!" argument.
