Playland - PNE

So, I moved out to B.C. last July and I finally made it out to Playland for the first time. I was waiting for the PNE and I couldn't go last year so my ride on "Coaster" was delayed, until this weekend. I have to say it is kind of a weird place where Playland occupies a small space of the ...

Re: 2016 - Skyhawk and Flying Eagles

I have to say I am usually unsatisfiable when it comes to flat announcements. But I am pretty excited for this one.

Re: Project 2016!

^I wouldn't really call that grass. Looks like they just threw some seed on there to give enough stabilization to keep the dust down. If they wanted grass, they would have used sod. There is no point in spending money on sod if they are planning on ripping it out soon. Buried footers? That is pointl...

Re: A Retro Wonderland

Sorry, I meant land builds up over time because of the rain that pushes the soil into one place especially since The Rage has been sitting there since 1980 (more than 33 years!). So the land has really built up since construction. My guess would be that the trees have grown since then.....

Re: Speculation: New For 2015

I worry that the removal of Skyrider is for part of the Splashworks expansion. If the removal of Skyrider was for a 2016 attraction, they could probably wait a lot longer to shut it down.

Re: Wonder Mountain's Guardian - New for 2014!

Does anyone else see a company logo on that canvas/curtain? It seems kind of wrong in this situation.

Re: Wonder Mountain's Guardian - New for 2014!

So, if Matcom has nothing to do with the final stages of the ride, then they are potentially out of the loop about the opening day of the ride.

Re: Wonder Mountain's Guardian - New for 2014!

Does Matcom have anything to do with all the final touches of the ride, video screens, laser guns, fine detail of the mountain, etc?

Re: Wonder Mountain's Guardian - New for 2014!

Who knows, maybe they will finish the final test around 8pm on the day of the event. We would be the first to ride it.

If the overall height has changed, I wonder if the length of the ride has changed also?

Re: Wonder Mountain's Guardian - New for 2014!

I am not sure how a spined track would do more damage to the mountain?

Re: Wonder Mountain's Guardian - New for 2014!

I wonder why they didn't go with a spined track for the outside of the mountain? It seems like they had to use an excess amount of supports. I am wondering if a self-supporting track structure would have made more sense for the exterior. They would have been able to cut-back on a lot of supports.

Re: Wonder Mountain's Guardian - New for 2014!

I have been saying since the announcement that I thought they were optimistic about getting this done in time. It is a huge project and even more so when they have never done anything like this. There are a lot of parties working on this construction. I am actually amazed they got this much done so ...
